Guajirón brings together musicians from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Costa Rica, Peru, the Philippines, and the U.S., ranging in age from their early 20s through their 60s.

Tres player and composer Michael Terkowski leads the band, drawing on years of playing, studying, and dancing in Cuba.

Our members have strong ties to Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts (MCCLA), Community Music Center (CMC), San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), and Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble of San Francisco (LJYE).
